Some say lightning never hits the same place twice. However, in this case it did. It hit an Emirates jumbo A-380 jet twice as it made its' approach into London's Heathrow Airport yesterday. It's rare to get a good picture of lightning hitting aircraft. The thought of lightning may make people nervous but in reality airplanes are well built to insulate & discharge static electricity. Rather it's the fuel tank or fuselage engineers have designed airplane components to withstand the fury of lightning. Here is a great video on its power.
