Scandal Grows Over Fake Pilots

A crisis is brewing in India over wide spread corruption in their aviation industry that allowed fake pilots to get commercial pilot licenses. Many of these pilots later went on to fly for establish Indian Airlines such as Air India, Spicejet & several others. How widespread this is in India nobody knows for sure. About a dozen pilots been arrested. However, investigators  expect there could be hundreds to a thousand pilots with fake commercial pilot licenses. These pilots have training, but lack the credential requirement to achieve the commercial pilot license which require 200 hours of flight time which is similar in the U.S. In some of these cases pilots had only 60 hours, but claim to have 200 hours. The scandal was discovered after two accidents last year one of which was fatal. The Captain of one airliner made unusual hard landing on the nose gear. There was nothing particular challenging about the approach, or landing which should have been routine. Most of these fake pilots came from one flight school in India. Although 200 hours is the minimum hour requirement to get a commercial pilot license in the US. Virtually it's un heard of for any US carriers to hire someone with such low time. The average pilot in the U.S get hired at a major carrier with around 5000 hours flight time. In other parts of the world it is much lower.
