Ground Collision At JFK
Yesterday their was a ground collision or runway incursion at JFK airport. The aircraft involved was the new Airbus 380 & a 70 seat Delta Comair RJ. The A 380 is the world's largest passenger jet. Fortunately, no one was injured. This underscores the importance of keeping your seat belt on into the crew turns off the sign belt sign. This collision is classified as an accident because their was damage to an aircraft. The accident happen as the RJ was near its gate waiting to be parked, while the A-380 was taxing behind the RJ. The A-380's wing hit the tail of the RJ at a good rate of speed that caused it to swing the RJ over about 30 feet. I could see how there could have been serious injuries if there was people standing up, or didn't have their seat belt on. As pilots, we see passenger all the time standing up while we are taxing which I find extremely frustrating. This is why we have rules & regulations. Rules are made after incidents happen. However, flying still remains the safest mode of transportation. Last year we had no airline fatalities. Hopefully, we can repeat that this year too.

Fortunate no one was hurt. Next time you are on a plane and it touches down, LISTEN CAREFULLY for the click of the seat-belts. I'm not sure what people are trying to prove.
I remember once landing at LGA, and the pilot stopped short of the gate (nearly on the tarmac) and told people if they didnt fasten their seatbelts the plane wasnt going anyplace.
