Russian Accident

Over this pass weekend there was a plane crash in Russia. A Russian Tupolev-154 being flown by Dagestan Airlines bound for Makhachkala in the North Caucasus region of Dagestan with 169 people on board rolled off the runway at Domodedovo airport Saturday and broke into three pieces, killing two and injuring more than 80 .Although it's unfortunate that two people died in this accident, most people survived this accident. The realty is that in the last 15 years studies show that despite accidents being rare most people survived when they do happened. In fact, if you look back at some of the last accidents in the past decade most people survived. According to a U.S. government report 95.7% of passengers involved in aviation accidents survive. One of the reasons is because of better cabin crew training & reaction, but also sturdier airplanes. Here are three recent accidents were everyone survived. One was the miracle of the Hudson Flight that crashed in the NY Hudson River that was flown by Capt Sullenburger, then in 2008 a Continental B-737 crashed on Takeoff. Flight 1404 veered off the runway & broke into 3 pieces. Everyone survived. Then in 2008 an American Flight crashed in Jamaica during a landing in stormy weather again everyone survive. In 2005 an Air France A340 with 309 people on board crashed landed in stormy weather. Everyone walked away from the accident. Despite airline accidents being rare, when they do happened more people are surviving.
