What a tragic week for celebrities. Just yesterday there was word that famous infomercial pitchman Billy Mays who was the voice & face for many commercials has died. What is interesting is that Mr Mays had just came into Tampa, Florida from an Us Airways plane that made a rough landing after blowing a tire. After the landing,  some overhead bins pop open & one piece of luggage hit Mr Mays in the head. At that time he seemed to be alright & went home. He died hours later at his home.  This seems to be similar to the head injury & death of actress Natasha Richardson a few month ago . Although this is tragic, I wonder what lessons can be learned from this. I know flight attendants usually brief passengers to place their carry-ons with the handle facing out ward so its easy to grab. Also, doing this method makes it harder for a bag to fall out. There are some lessons that can be learned here. If a passenger suffers any injury at the airport regardless on how minor it appears they should consider seeking medical attention. You could bet that the airlines will always ask you if you need it to to cover their own liabity.
