Are Turbpprop airplanes safe?

After the recent turboprop accident involving a Continental Connection flight to Buffalo, NY  many people are starting to get anxiety about small airplanes. Some people who have a slight anxiety & fear of flying will often become very tense after an accident. This last accident was unfortunate, but I have no doubt that turboprop airplanes are just as safe as jets. If you think about it the word turbo, & turbine means basically the same thing in the dictionary . Turboprop are gas turbine engines ,& turbine are turbo fan engines. They both have the same components & engine instruments. Jets, & turboprops are very similar except the way that they deice in flight. Icing in flight is a hazard to all aircraft rather its a jet ,or turboprop plane. Jets melt off ice easier because they produce more engine heat to melt it off the wings. Turboprop airplanes produce less heat, & therefore must use inflate able rubber boots to break ice off. The problem with turboprop airplanes is not much about the airplane as rather its more about good pilot techniques. There are a lot of good industry safety practices out there, but it all comes down to pilot technique. I flown many years in the upstate NY area, and know how bad the weather could be. I flown a smaller turboprop then the one that crash in & out of icing conditions on a regular basis. Flying turboprops are safe, it just comes down to good operating practices. Hopefully, the FAA will mandate a standard practice for flying in icing instead of  leaving up to the individual aircarriers.
