20 Anniversary Of Lockerbie Bombing

This incoming Sunday will mark the 20 anniversary of the Pan Am flight 103 terrorist bombing over Lockerbie, Scotland (UK). All on board the B-747 totaling 270 people died back in 1988. The Libyan Government was blamed for this act. Today Libya has been paying the relatives of this bombing in the millions for this callous act. A lot of positive security measures have came about because of this bombing. For one thing, we have positive bag match procedures. A bag can't get on the airplane unless we know that person is coming on. Airline personnel are required to ask passengers if their bags have always been with them. You even hear the airport authorities make these announcements reminding people to keep their bags with them at all times, & never carry anything in your bag from someone you don't know. In some cases, you should be careful carrying things from people you do know too. Case in point, back in the 1990's their was a case in Israel were a German woman going to visit her fianacee's parents in the Palestine district was asked by her fianacee to take a package in her suitcase for his mother when she got to Israel. What she didn't know was that package he gave her was a bomb intended to blow up in flight. However, the plot was discovered  without anyone getting hurt when security inspected her bags.
