Overcome fear of flying is easier than you think

To most people, fear & anxiety of flying have been a problem most of their adult lives. I too know the impact of fear  of flying. This may seem hard to believe, but before I was a pilot I too hard a fear of  flying. I didn't know I wanted to be a pilot into my late teens. But, when I was thirteen years old I was afraid to fly. I developed that fear of flying especially after seeing images of an American Airlines DC-10 crash in Chicago, O'Hara Airport in 1979. That image to this day still remains in my memory. A few months after that accident, I took my very first flight to Mexico on a family vacation. To much of my surprise, I enjoyed the flight. I like the flight so much that I enjoyed it more than the vacation. It would be another five years before I decided I wanted to fly for a living. But, I also had another fear, and that was fear of water. It took me a long time before I ever learned to swim. I only learned because I was determined to. I wanted to join the Marine Corp at age 19. I had to learn to swim if I wanted to join the marines. So that was my motivation to overcome my fear of water. Likewise, you have to be motivated to overcome your fear of flying. You must see an award so great that it will drive you to overcome your fear of flying. What led me to initially take flight at age thirteen was the motivation of going on a family vacation to Mexico. I knew I had to fly in order to get there. Think back to another phobia that you had in the past, and how did you overcome it.

They gave me four weeks, and I asked if the first week could be just music with the two main conductors. So, the conductors came over to my home, and we worked in the music room, and I learned my two little songs.
