Flying the friendly skies!
Incredibly, last year 2007 was one of the safest years for flying on record since four decades. A private study group called ACRO did the study. There was only 136 serious incidents or accidents. The break down is that 965 people died in plane crashes in planes the size that carry six people or more. So obviously theres a lot of smaller air taxi operation planes crashes included in those firgures. These numbers were actually 25% less than in 2006. The lowest rate was in 2004. If you really take a minute to think about this. They are saying that 965 people died world wide from commercial aviation involving airplanes the size from a piper aztec to a B-747. In any given year you have over 1000 people die from from boating accidents alone in the Northeast. Not bad odds!
